55th Engadin Skimarathon: 12.000 cross-country skiing enthusiasts from over 60 nations in Switzerland | 9th March

on Sunday, 9th of March, 2025 more than 12.000 athletes will compete in the 55th edition of the Engadin Skimarathon, the second largest cross-country skiing event in the world and the largest cross-country skiing event in Switzerland. Among the large crowd of participants are also world-class athletes like Martin Fourcade (FRA).
What awaits them on this day in the high valley are 42 strenuous kilometers over frozen lakes, past typical Engadine villages and through a picturesque and snowy Swiss Alpine landscape. The best will complete the course in a time of around 1.5 hours.
Since 1969, every year, Switzerland’s largest sports event attracts thousands of cross-country skiing fans to the Grisons high valley and also well known pro athletes. This year the biathlon legend Martin Fourcade (FRA) (5x Olympic champion, 13x world champion and 7x winner of the overall World Cup rankings), his fellow countryman and world cup sprinter Jay Renaud (FRA)and Magne Haga (NOR) (last year’s winner) will compete on the 42 km long marathon route to S-chanf.
In the women’s event, Switzerland’s Selina Gasparin (silver medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics) will be competing in her home country alongside local hero and last year’s winner Guliana Werro.
