Slalom X Windsurfing Fuerteventura Spain
PWA World Tour 18 – 22 July 2025 (Slalom X)
The 35-year-old Frenchman won the event on the Canary Island with five wins and two second places in 12 races to take the lead in the world rankings. Matteo Iachino from Italy came second in a very closely fought field. Maciek Rutkowski from Poland took third place.
As the Slalom X races off Fuerteventura mark the start of the 2025 racing season for the men, these placings also correspond to the current world rankings. Over the course of five days of racing, the reliable trade winds blew at speeds of over 40 knots across the sea off Fuerteventura, making the races technically very demanding for the riders. The jump obstacle, which is standard in Slalom X, and variations in the regatta course added to the difficulty.
The PWA Windsurf World Cup will continue on Fuerteventura from 23 to 27 July with the freestyle discipline. The next Slalom X races for men will take place in Tenerife at the beginning of August.

The windsurfers will then switch to the freestyle discipline before the wingfoilers determine their winners in two disciplines as part of the GWA World Tour.
PWA Windsurf World Cup Fuerteventura: Freestyle Sarah Quita Offringa lays the foundation for her 27th world title Yentel Caers from Belgium leads the men’s rankings.
It remains extremely windy and therefore action-packed at the PWA Windsurfing World Cup in Fuerteventura.
After completing the Slalom X races, the windsurfing pros are now showing off their skills in the freestyle discipline in stormy conditions. In freestyle, the best tricks and jumps are judged, similar to a figure skating routine. The women are competing for the world championship title on Sotavento beach, while the men are collecting world ranking points.
Sarah-Quita Offringa has just won her 26th world championship title in the Slalom X on the turquoise sea off Fuerteventura. Now the 34-year-old from the Caribbean island of Aruba has her sights set on title number 27. Offringa won the first of two qualifying heats against Dutch rider Maaike Huvermann by the narrowest of margins, 28.5 to 27.7 points. Lisa Kloster from Germany currently occupies third place. In the men’s competition, there was a Belgian duel for first place. Yentel Caers clearly prevailed against Steven van Broeckhoven with 35.8 points to 21. The battle for third place went to Japanese newcomer Takumi Moriya.
The final results will now be determined in the all-important second round by 27 July 2025 at the latest. Sarah-Quita Offringa and Yentel Caers can slip to second place at most. However, the two leaders could still be challenged for victory.
