Porto Cervo in Sardinia hosted the 32nd edition of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup. It’s an increasingly popular event and one of the most important weeks on the European sailing calendar which this year attracted a world-class fleet of 50 boats, competing in one of the world’s most celebrated sailing venues.

I think it’s really nice that we have our first World Championship together. Solike it’s also a first, so it’s maybe even less pressure but we sailed really well, so really a good week.

The French Riviera was the setting for Round 5 of SailGP Season 3 and before racing got underway Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen arrived in San Tropez along with team mate Sergio Perez to swap an F1 car for an F50 catamaran.

There are 22 skippers still competing on the Vendée Globe and eight of them are tightly packed in a group which is due to finish early next week. On the agenda for this year’s edition are 5 stages with varied profiles, rewarding riders in good form after their winter preparations. From echelons and sprints to short and steep climbs in the desert of the AlUla region, the stage is set for a major battle at the start of the season.

In the space of 48 hours, no fewer than six skippers crossed the Vendée Globe finish line in Les Sables-d’Olonne. French skipper Sébastien Simon crossed the Vendée Globe finish line in third place at 00h27 (UTC) on Friday January 17, after 67 days, 12 hours and 25 minutes of racing, finishing 2 days and 17 hours behind the overall winner. It’s the first time a sailor from Les Sables d’Olonne, where the legendary solo round the world race starts and finishes has finished on the podium. The Groupe Dubreuil skipper’s race was marked by multiple challenges which contrasted sharply with moments of great success.

WATCH THE HIGH LIGHTS: 19-year-old Jake Müller managed to land a triple backflip – the first ever triple backflip in a backcountry freeride competition. And in the women competition, we saw the first ever double backflip by a woman in a freeride competition by Astrid Cheylus and then later in the competition by Mila De Le Rue.
