GKA KITE-SURF WORLD CUP CAPE VERDE 2024 PONTA PRETA, SAL
The season opener of the Qatar Airways GKA Kite World Tour returned to Cape Verde for the first round in the Kite-Surf discipline. The renowned point-break of Ponta Preta was the stage for three days of breath-taking action in the rocky break that is challenging even for the world’s best Kite-Surf athletes, who are judged on their wave riding performances.
Hawaii-based Moona Whyte won the world title last year, lifting the crown at the final stop in Cauípe, Brazil. But France’s Capucine Delannoy has shown she will be one of the world champions biggest threats. The French teenager is determined to regain the crown she lost. Cape Verde-based Italian Airton Cozzolino closed out the world title with a win in Brazil, his first of the season. On day one in Cape Verde he came out firing, demonstrating his single-minded focus to retain his crown.
