Freeski World Rookie Tour 2024
At the sixth Freeski World Rookie Fest in the Nordkette Skyline Park high above Innsbruck, Austria, young riders once again put on impressive performances.
The slopestyle competition is part of the international World Rookie Tour, which has been offering young riders a great stage for contest experience since 2005. 45 freeski talents between the ages of 11 and 17 from Europe are competing for titles in two age categories and for tickets to the big World Rookie Tour final in Madonna di Campiglio.
Bright blue skies and the fantastic view of Innsbruck ensure a great atmosphere among riders, coaches, parents and friends.
Some of the young participants already have multiple competition experiences, for others it is their first competition. Almost all of them mastered the course with great bravura.
The man of the day is 15-year-old Benjamin Lengger (AUT), who takes all the titles: he secures first place in the rookie category and can call himself Ski Austria Junior Champion Slopestyle 2024. His run also secured him the award for the best “back to back” trick combo: Right Cork 9 Blunt at the first jump, Switch Double Cork 9 Safety at the second jump and 270 on continuing 270 off at the rail feature.
Bailey Webster (GBR) and Simon Cardini (ITA) complete the rookie podium in 2nd and 3rd place behind Benjamin Lengger (AUT). In the Groms category, 14-year-old Raphael Natter (AUT) shone from the top step of the podium, while 12-year-old Magdalena Eglseder (GER) took victory in the girls’ category.
