At day 5 of the Ensis ENGADINWIND WingFoil Racing World Cup, the event’s top riders arrived at Silvaplana lake hungry for glory in the Medal Series. The wind, however, had different ideas. All week you could have set your watch on the arrival of the Maloja wind – the local thermal breeze that kicks-in at lunchtime – but not today. The men’s Golden Ticket race was the only casualty of the weather. As tenth-placed finisher in qualifying, Gregorio Pugliese was awarded the last spot in the Medal Series.

the 2025 season of the GWA Wingfoil World Tour kicked off with the first World Cup in Wave discipline respectively, held from March 13th to 15th in Sal, Cape Verde. Either Ponta Preta’s rocky point-break or Kite Beach’s sandy shoreline ensured a stunning backdrop for the world’s best wingfoilers. This competition saw 27 men and 8 women from 18 different nationalities registered to participate.
The new season of the GWA Wingfoil World Cup begins in Sal, Cape Verde and the top global wingfoilers are battling out for the 2025 GWA Wingfoil Wave World Title. The GWA expects to see a raft of radical new moves as the athletes push the boundaries in what is bound to be a breathtaking treat for the spectators. Now we are likely to witness Front-flips and Back-flips, radical cutbacks, snaps and “airs” off the lip, provided the athletes land in the same wave.
